The roles of key organisations in Australia's anti-doping framework is outlined below:
ASADA
- Delivers national doping control (testing) and education programs
- Develop, approve and monitor the anti-doping programs and policies of National Sporting Organisations (NSOs)
- Coordinates the national response to doping
- Advocates for effective and consistent international anti-doping programs
- Investigates allegations of doping
- Prosecutes anti-doping rule violations.
Australian Sports Commission (ASC)
- Ensures the NSO compliance with anti-doping requirements.
NSOs and other sports organisations
- Provide ASADA with information and support to implement testing and education
programs
- Implement anti-doping policies including sanctioning athletes.
National Measurement Institute
- Provides analysis of samples
- Provides research into new detection methods.
Athletes
- Comply with and understand the anti-doping rules of their sport
- Provide up to date and accurate whereabouts information to ASADA
- Comply with ASADA's doping control program.
