This website includes online copies of ASADA's printed publications. The majority of these are in PDF format and can only be viewed using the Acrobat Reader plugin installed with your browser. Those without the plugin can download it free of charge from Adobe.
For users with a disability, see Adobe's screen-reader compatible, download page and the additional information below.
To save PDF files onto your own computer, or if you are having problems viewing the PDF file from your browser, you should right-click on the PDF file link, select 'Save Target As' or 'Save Link As', save the file to your computer hard disk, then open and print it using Acrobat.
PDF files (Portable Document Format) provide Internet users with an onscreen full reproduction of a hardcopy publication.
To view these files you need a copy of a software application called Acrobat Reader manufactured by Adobe.
Having Acrobat Reader on your computer will allow you to open these documents that would otherwise be unavailable to you.
When you have installed Acrobat Reader there is no need to repeat the process.
To be able to use this free software you need to:
1. Download the program to your computer
2. Install the program on your hard drive.
This is easy.
1. After clicking the Adobe link above you will find yourself at Adobe's Acrobat download page on the Adobe internet site. To select the reader you need for you computer, click on the link that indicates the computer and operating system that you use - Windows 95, Mac etc.
You will now be asked whether you wish to run the file or save it to disk. Select 'save to disk' and tell it where you would like to put the file. If you don't have a particular folder such as a 'programs' folder on your pc then create a folder and call it, say, 'Acrobat' or 'downloads'. The program will then be downloaded to that folder. Once downloaded you must now install the program.
2. [Windows only] Locate the file within your preferred folder and open the ar40eng.exe program (Acrobat 4). Follow the on-screen instructions. Remember to close all currently running Windows programs before you do so.
The program will be 'unpacked'. Sit back, wait and click yes to everything. Accept the Licence agreement - the software is free.
That's all there is to it. If you are unsure whether you've been successful simply try opening a PDF file. If correctly installed this file will automatically open using the Reader.
